Novo Selo Monastery

Novo Selo Monastery "St. Trinity " is associated with an important event in Bulgarian history. In 1876 the monastery stands in the center of Novo Selo Republic. -Won freedom was paid a lot of blood , fire and destruction. Republic lasted only nine days , and during this short period the monastery was subjected to violent attacks by the Ottoman authorities. Georgi Hristov priest and several nuns defend him , but were killed and the monastery - burned . Today more visible bullet hole in the door. Burnt are Apriltsi and then villages Vidima , Ostrets , Novo Selo and Zla reka . Even today in the chapel behind the church in the monastery, which was turned into a small museum are preserved the bones of the dead.

Today the monastery is located in the center of Novo selo neighborhood , city Apriltsi , it is a going Bulgarian Orthodox monastery and belongs to the Eparchy of Troy Lovchanski diocese. The complex includes a small church and a chapel , located in the courtyard of the monastery . The church holiday is Pentecost. Currently in Novo Selo Monastery chapel was turned into a museum area of the liberation struggle. It exhibits abundant evidence of the patriotic spirit of Novoseltsi . There you can see a portrait of Tsvyatko Stefanov Zlatev, active member of the grounds of Levski revolutionary committee Trojan, which help avoid Novo Selo people after the defeat of the uprising .

A curious fact in the history of the monastery that was founded in 1830 as a family under its roof are about 40 nuns lived in the region. In 1831, there was brought the first printed edition of the Rila Monastery. After the liberation by means of patriotic Bulgarian Orthodox monastery lived a new life.

Now Novo Selo Monastery has no permanent owners. The guests , however, can stay in it for the night , as long as there is space in the former cells of the nuns .

The doors of the monastery are always open from 9 am to 6 pm

Cloister is an attractive place for residents in the region. Often citizens of Apriltsi go for picnics on the lawns around the monastery . Organized and musical events . Organizing occasions comes priest.

Novo Selo Monastery "St. Trinity " is located a few minutes walk from the center of Novo Selo quarter of Aprilci (bus stop from Sofia) , as it leads to an asphalt road.
