Balchik

Located on the Black Sea coast, near the resorts are Albena, Kranevo, Golden Sands, Varna, Dobrich and Kavarna. Balchik has 5 churches, 4 of them are active. The oldest is the church of St. Nicholas Mirlikiyski, which was built in the middle of the nineteenth century and the first Bulgarian church in Balchik. The town developed mainly tourist activity during the summer. Yacht tourism is developed, which offers various trips on the North Sea, organize picnics, fishing and swimming in the sea battle with pirate ships, romantic night cruises, etc. In the vicinity of Balchik has two golf courses, one of which was designed by world famous golfer Ian Woosnam. University botanical garden and architectural and park complex "Palace" undoubtedly represent the business card of Balchik. Palace complex consists of a central palace with a tower, many buildings in a modern style of the time, a park with lots of terraces, lanes and paths, stone alcoves with great columns and overlooking the sea, a throne where Queen Maria loved to sit and watching the sunset, a small chapel where her heart is. In the botanical garden has over 3000 species of rare and exotic plants, it is part of the training base at Sofia University.

Historical Museum of Balchik has artifacts dating back several centuries, archaeological excavations. In Balchik there: Ethnographic and Revival Complex and Art Gallery. Balchik is a center for many cultural events. Annually is host to many festivals. By tradition it is "The children's smiles Festival" of the Sea. The most significant event for the town of Balchik is open in 2007, the temple of mother goddess Cybele in the city center. So far, archaeologists have found eight unique white marble statues of the goddess mother and over 18 marble slabs with perfectly preserved ancient Greek inscriptions.
