It is situated on the banks of the Danube next to the ancient fortress at the mouth of the so-called Belene branch of the river - where it began striking beauty and diversity of flora and fauna group of islands known as Belene archipelago.

During the summer months the place is frequented by locals and recently became popular among tourists from other parts of Bulgaria, because here is calm, the beach is nice, and the location makes it possible to isolate himself and have fun in nature, away from the bustle the big city or the most visited resorts. Indisputable advantages of Hisarlaka are the reason so many tourists ignore the prohibitions of the mayor and the Regional Health Service to beach here, although they are almost yearly, based on the analyzes of the water of the Danube River - one of the hardest hit by industrial pollution European rivers.

Nevertheless, many people are looking cool in the summer heat at the beach in the area Hisarlaka, and some of them even pitch their tents here. The beach is relatively short and narrow, covered with sand, but in contrast, the views are great, and the river bottom is sloping, as in most places does not constitute a potential danger to you and your loved ones.

Near the beach, on a small hill, lies the fortress. At present it is only the other artifacts that can be recognized by a trained eye as they are covered in grass, shrubbery and trees. In the early twentieth century, the great archaeologist and friend of Bulgaria Karel Shkorpil exploring the fortress and found that it is from the Roman era, built on an older settlement, dating from the time of the Thracians, and even from the prehistoric era.
