Macedonia Hut

Hut "Macedonia " is in the saddle " Bear Pass " in the Southwestern part of Rila . At an altitude of 2,166 meters . Appears to be of the highest huts located on the Balkan Peninsula. Building was built back in 1937 .

Originally named after the area where it is situated - " Aigidik " , which translated from Tours language means " Bear Pass ." There are hypotheses voiced by some historians that the name " Aigidik " is of Thracian origin and means " heavenly passage ." In 1980 . renamed and still bears the name " Macedonia".

The chalet has a capacity of 40 beds in rooms of four , five and seven beds and one room with bunk beds for twenty-four people. The building is water and electricity from its own source. Dormitories are heated with radiators by solid fuel boiler . There is an indoor toilet and bathroom . Has a large tourist dining room with fireplace , kitchen . In the summer camping is permitted .

Points to the hut "Macedonia " are Dobarsko - 4.30 hours and Blagoevgrad. From Blagoevgrad travel by road with a length of 28 km. hut " Bodrost ." From the hut " Bodrost " to hut "Macedonia " distance passes along a marked trail for about 3.00 hours .

Hut "Macedonia " is located at the crossroads of scenic natural sites providing role of key site for tourism in the Rila and Pirin mountains . Objects nearby that are of interest to visitors and the opportunity for short walks are: peak " German " ( 2484m. ) - 1 hour, "Little Bear Peak " ( 2474m. ) -1 hour " Great Bear Peak " ( 2618m. ) - 1.30 hours , " Markov stone" - 1.30 hours , " Kukov peak " ( 2411m. ) - 2 hours , " Tsarev peak " - 5:00 . The paths are marked.
