Belogradchik Rocks Eco trail

Ecopath "Belogradchik Rocks" is a relatively easy and short route , offering tourists an excellent experience and a visit to the biggest attractions in the town of Belogradchik and its surroundings. The trail is well marked and runs for about 4 hours at maximum displacement between the lowest and the highest right 170 meters .

The route starts at the Tourist Information Center , located in the center of Belogradchik.

The first goal of the tourists is the television tower , which is located on Mount Karnev meadow. It was built in 1978 and with 125 meters one of the tallest buildings in Bulgaria . It opens a magnificent view of Belogradchik and its surroundings . The tour continues with a visit to the Historical Museum. Cultural institution is housed in Renaissance Panova house , founded in 1970 and it consists of more than 6,000 artifacts , mostly from the Renaissance and post-liberation era.

The next stop on the route of the trail "Belogradchik Rocks" is arguably the most historic landmark of the area - castle fortress . It was founded as early as the Roman Empire and played an important role during the Second Bulgarian Empire , but her real heyday was during the Ottoman Empire. Kale is one of the best preserved fortresses in Bulgaria and offers visitors breathtaking views. Builders cleverly used the characteristics of the terrain and the fortress was built so that it includes fortifications outfits of rocks .

By Kale ecotrail continues to place Subashin fountain from which detected stunning panoramas over the rocks at its foot lies it . The last leg of the tour takes tourists to the Natural History Museum in the city. Here they can see more than 520 exhibits typical flora and fauna not only the area, but a whole northwestern Bulgaria. Among them, of particular interest to visitors are the golden eagle , blue crow , Barn Owl , black stork , peregrine , dormouse , otter , marten ... Many of the objects set out in Belogradchik Natural History Museum are included in the Red Book of Bulgaria to the endangered species. The institution has created a department that specifically studies the life and migration of birds.

Ecopath "Belogradchik Rocks" offers visitors a rare combination of affordability, impressive scenery, the historical sights, touch to local flora and fauna and cultural institutions in urban settings. To see it , do not need any special skills nor equipment. It is enough to have the desire and choose the suitable weather conditions.
