Ecopath " Zbegove " starts at the Tourist Information Centre in the town of Belogradchik. The transition has an average difficulty passing along nicely shaped and marked trails . It was created to allow tourists to get to know one of the most picturesque areas of the region and Bulgaria as a whole.
The first stop on the route is Kale ( Belogradchik fortress ) where the mark appears on our site Razkasye . Natural protection of this site has been evaluated by the Thracians who create there own fort . Later, Romans and Byzantines expanded stronghold and during the Second Bulgarian Empire Belogradchik is becoming one of the most important centers of the Vidin Kingdom .
Culminating in the development of the fort , however, during the Ottoman rule the Bulgarian lands. In the XIX century the fort became one of the most powerful in the Balkan coasts of Turkey. It has a strategic role as it is only a mile from the newly liberated Serbia.
The entire route offers plenty of panoramic views of the beautiful great Belogradchik Rocks . The trail runs from the west side and reaches the area Zbegove . The area is particularly impressive , as here abound bizarre rock formations. In antiquity and the Middle Ages in this place were located security and surveillance equipment , whose remains can still be seen today.
Currently, the top was built a watchtower from which on a good day is a wonderful view over the rocks and Vedernik peak ( 1124 m ) . From the area Zbegove path takes us to Popskata house . Hence the return to Belogradchik Fortress .
The total length of the route takes about 6 hours with a normal move. The track is fairly easy , suitable for beginner hikers and groups with small children. Ecopath " Zbegove " can be mine in all seasons , but the most attractive is in the late spring , summer and early autumn . It is one of the best routes , acquainting us with the incredible beauty of the rocks .
