Parangalitsa Reserve

Parangalitza Reserve is one of the four reserves in Rila National Park. Located in the southwestern part of the mountain. This is the second oldest park in the country established in 1933 and covers an area of ​​approximately 1,500 hectares. The name " Parangalitza " translated from Greek means forbidden place. Since March 1977 he has been included in the list of biosphere reserves under the program "Man and Biosphere" . Within the reserve kept for one of the most magnificent pine forests of the Rila Mountain . Between 1750 and 2000 m asl are pure spruce (75%) belmurovi spruce forests. Officially recognized that here are some of the most favorable conditions for the development of the spruce in Europe.
