Parangalitza Reserve is one of the four reserves in Rila National Park. Located in the southwestern part of the mountain. This is the second oldest park in the country established in 1933 and covers an area of approximately 1,500 hectares. The name " Parangalitza " translated from Greek means forbidden place. Since March 1977 he has been included in the list of biosphere reserves under the program "Man and Biosphere" . Within the reserve kept for one of the most magnificent pine forests of the Rila Mountain . Between 1750 and 2000 m asl are pure spruce (75%) belmurovi spruce forests. Officially recognized that here are some of the most favorable conditions for the development of the spruce in Europe. These forests are truly enchanting fairy with dangling chains as thin strands of beard lichen and ground scarring of some trees. Over 2000 meters squats belt , then the reserve is occupied by pastures. The reserve established about 300 species of plants and 75 species included in the Red Book of Bulgaria . There have been 12 species of saxifrage . In Parangalitza are the largest populations of Rila primrose . Here the many members of the mammalian red deer , roe deer , brown bear , wild cat , wolf and more. Is great and the variety of birds. In the rivers there are plenty of river trout . Landscape in Parangalitza typical ice forms: cirques trog doini , moraines . Are widespread and stone scree . Here towering peaks Ezernik , Yumerdzhik , Big Bear Peak , Uzunitsa . The reserve banned all activities that may disturb the natural state of its amazing scenery.
