Bojentsi

Bojentsi is located in the Central Balkan Mountains, east of Gabrovo, at the very end of the Shipka Pass. The distance from Gabrovo is 15 km. Bozhentsi boasts a pleasant breeze of the mountain, with a nice cool summer and winter. And not incidentally Bulgarians built on this piece of land one of the best Bulgarian and most flourishing settlements ever. If we go by the ancient stone streets of the Balkan, the first thing that will astound us are trees, shrubs and flowers are all around the houses and surround them like a jungle. Here, humans have been found harmony between home and nature in a unique way. Genius of the craftsmen builders is shown in each house, fence, street, even the church is unique for its beauty and style. Bozhentsi houses have a high basement, external staircase and balcony from which you enter in the drawing room, then in the kitchen. The furniture is impressive - the walls are wood-paneled ceilings - carved and decorated with various motifs. High stone walls, oak doors, small cobblestone streets, stone fountains and bridges have a unique atmosphere. These days are left over 100 homes with over 100-250 years of history. The population is 40 people. True mastery of Renaissance architecture, a three-nave basilica Prophet Elijah, which can be seen domes, hidden under the bevelled ceilings, massive stone walls and typical Bozhentsi vaults. For the national holidays in the reserve make reproductions of traditional customs, martenitzas, Lazaruvane, at Christmas. The village has several houses that offer accommodation and in a local tavern dishes are rustic, Bulgarian and terribly tasty. From Bozhentsi leave many tourist routes to Tryavna museum, Dryanovo Monastery, Gabrovo, so if possible take a few days.
