Bratsigovo is a small town in southern Bulgaria, situated 45 km southwest of Plovdiv. The historical museum of Bratsigovo originated in 1926 when the local school is open historical collection. Over the years it grew and changed location several times until in 1988 opened the museum building, which houses today.
The museum traces the history of the region and its inhabitants, as a central place in the exhibition is devoted to the preparation and the outbreak of the April Uprising of 1876 against the Ottoman rule.
Here you can see the only original cherry ball in Bulgaria. Among the exhibits are originals rifles, pistols and swords, and the flag of the rebels, made from the teacher Ana Gizdova.
From 2009 to the third floor of the museum has an art gallery where works are displayed in different Bulgarian artists.
Some of the exposures of the museum are in house museum "Vasil Petleshkov." More about the everyday life of local people, visitors can learn in the ethnographic exhibition, located in Kaneva house. In 1981 in Popova house in the city opened the exhibition "Bratsigovo architectural building school during the Renaissance." The exposition contains models of the most famous churches, built by craftsmen Bratzigovo.
