The traditional route from the village Bunovo to the peak Etropolska Baba ( 1787 m above sea level) rises upstream of Bunovska river and reached the hut " Chavdar " hence the marked trail to the top. Route described here is designed to save space and offer more non-traditional approach to Etropolska Baba.
The route is a typical example of how to change people's attitudes , even in such a conservative direction , such as hiking. Years ago, this transition has enjoyed considerable interest on the part of nature lovers and is now almost forgotten at the expense of far more convenient and well marked path along the riverbed .
From the village Bunovo heads to the suburbs , and once it has been passed over , you take the Chuchulski dol that climbing on the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains and climbs to the place monk . The transition is relatively easy because it passed low and smooth , but still requires good physical preparation.
In Kalugera track joins the road that shortcuts peak Koylovitsa . Throughout the transition route unfolds our wonderful panoramic views. Of course , you can not be expected in this direction have any markings. Reassuring is that almost all around the paths are well recognizable. However, it should be borne in mind that in some places the track was almost lost and to go astray danger is very real .
After climbing the path, follow it through woodlands and open meadows . It gradually climbs the ridge and reaches the memorial of Russian soldiers who winter in 1877 under the leadership of General Dendevil unsuccessfully to cross the Balkan Mountains and the raging storm with around 800 casualties. From the peak Etropolska Baba leads the broad and well-defined ridge trail , which is part of Route E-3 ( Kom - Emine ) .
The transition should not be underestimated, because the lack of marking in the initial part definitely requires proper attention . However, if you approach the adventure responsible enough , you can enjoy the beauty of the mountain in a remote from popular tourist destinations , but very beautiful part of it.
