Poda Protected Area is located four miles south of Burgas to the left of the main road Burgas - Istanbul. It was declared such in 1989 again in 1989 the protected area is defined by BirdLife International Important Bird Area, and in 1997 its territory was built Conservation Center "Poda". In 2003 was declared wet area of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and is included in the program of UN HABITAT best practices to protect habitats. The size of the protected area is 1 sq. km. It is one of the richest areas in relation to Bird in Europe - it is observed 265 bird species, such as the Black Sea coast only mixed colony of white spoonbill, glossy ibis, night, red, gray, Sandwich and Little Egret. During the winter months in the Gulf of Foros protected area floor can be observed Pygmy Cormorant, Dalmatian Pelican, Swan tundrov. In addition to the protected area Poda birds are found the largest deposits of colorful snake, biggest snake in the country, and the Etruscan shrew, the smallest mammal in Europe.
Very protected area floor is open for visitors all year round. There are several distinct route that can be seen its feathered inhabitants, without disturbance. There are going, covered shelter, which allows monitoring of bird life, regardless of weather conditions.
