This route is intended to acquaint visitors with some of the cultural attractions of Bourgas - the second largest Bulgarian Black Sea town and one of the main tourist destinations in the country. The starting point of the route is the cathedral "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" , located on the eponymous square in the city center. It was built between 1897-1907 on the place of a small wooden church, which was the only church in Burgas before Liberation. "St. St. Cyril and Methodius " is an impressive basilica with crosses. Cathedral was painted by artists Gyudzhenov and Kozhuharov, worked on Sofia's memorial "St. Alexander Nevski" . The main entrance is decorated with beautiful stained glass depicting Cyril and Methodius.
The second stop on our route is the Ethnographic Museum, which is located next to the cathedral (street "Slavianska" 69). Exposures are in built in 1873 Brakalova house. On the first floor there is an interior typical of the houses of the wealthy homes in the XIX century.
On the second floor are shown traditional costumes of all ethnographic groups lived in Burgas or settled here after the Balkan wars - Ruptsi, Tronki, mountaineers, Zagortsi, Aliani and settlers from the territories of present-day Greece and Turkey. Impressive collection also presents ceremonial costumes used in traditional customs - fire dancing, Midsummer bride, Karakachan wedding ... Every summer at the Ethnographic Museum conducted a school for traditional crafts and contemporary applied arts.
Our next goal is the Natural History Museum, which is reached on the boulevard " Lermontov " . The museum is located on the " Constantine Fotinov " 30 and represents the rich flora and fauna of Strandja. It houses the main collection gallery of Via Pontika the southern coast. Special attention was paid to care for environmental protection.
Continue on "Constantine Fotinov" and the first crossroad turn in "Aleko Bogoridi". At number 21 is the Archaeological Museum, housed in the building of the Girls' High School , built in 1894. Exhibition contains artifacts from prehistoric, ancient Thrace, Greek colonization, the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages.
The last stop on the route is the Art Gallery "Petko Zadgorski". It can be reached by descend along "Antim I" to "Metropolitan Simeon". The gallery is located at number 24 and is housed in the former Jewish synagogue. It was founded in 1947 and its three floors presents more than 2800 works of hundreds of artists, including Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master, Bencho Obreshkov, Zlatyu Boyadziev, Dechko Uzunov, Svetlin Roussev.
