Historical museum Chirpan

Historical Museum of Chirpan has four showrooms, offices and workshops storehouse of materials for departments "Archaeology", "Nature" and "History." Is equipped restoration workshop and seminar hall. The museum collects, examines and explores the archeology, history and ethnography of Chirpan region. It was founded in 1959, but the status of the museum acquired only in 1998.

The main collections in stock include photographs, objects and documents related to past of Chirpan and surroundings, personal belongings and other materials related to prominent figures of the Renaissance, the struggle for connection of the Bulgarian lands, economic and cultural development of the region. The museum is regularly present exhibitions of various periods. Museum prepare short films with historical themes, cultural and historical issues magazine "our past".

Undoubtedly the most important archaeological site of the museum is "Karasura" which is located east of the city, on the southern slopes of the Mountain. This place keeps unique historical evidence for the life of the Neolithic (fourth millennium BC) to the Middle Ages (XIV century AD). Studied from 1981 by a team of Bulgarian and German researchers. Covers mound fortress and surrounding area, and south-facing hillside Kayryaka. Three gates are opened, ten towers, churches and residential buildings, as in some fortified and beyond.

Cultural monument is the Ethnographic Spasovo house in the village. In Chirpan there are several churches that were built in the 19th century and an interesting monuments of architecture - "St. Mary" church "St. Archangel Michael", "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" church "St .Spas ". The greatest glory of the town is the famous poet Peyo Yavorov. In town is the birthplace of stored Peyo Yavorov - poet, forever marked the Bulgarian literature magic of his words.
