Devin is located in southern Bulgaria, 45 km from Smolyan. It is famous mainly for its mineral springs, the water temperature ranged from 16 to 76 C. The mineral waters are suitable for treatment and prevention of various diseases. An external water application treats diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, reproductive system and skin diseases. By use treated drinking gastrointestinal, biliary and liver, kidney, urologic and metabolic-endocrine diseases. Better respond and respiratory diseases.
Attracted by the curative properties of mineral water, Thracians settled in the area in the late fourteenth century BC and inhabited it until late antiquity (fourth century AD). In the center of Devon are the remains of a medieval necropolis XIII - XIV century finds from the necropolis - jewelry and pottery are set out in the museum of the city. There can be examined and objects discovered during archaeological surveys Jagodina and Haramiyska cave. Museum is located in the library building "Rodopska education."
The picturesque mountain area near Devin is suitable for hiking. . 4 km from Devin lies the rock phenomenon - Elephant. Trigrad is about 26 km from the city and can be reached at Trigrad Gorge, which was declared a protected area. On one side of the road to Trigrad is Trigradska River, on the other side there are steep cliffs up to 300 meters. Here is the Devil's Throat Cave, to which there are many legends. Another cave in the area is Haramiyska - until it can reach a path that starts from the parking lot of the Devil's Throat. 10 km from the Devil's Throat is beautiful Jagodinska. As a famous spa resort Devin receives the guests in modern hotels, luxury spas. Accommodation is possible in guest houses and hotels. The villages in the Rhodope Mountains are famous for their hospitality and traditional cuisine and also kind of accommodation. In this region is architectural reserve Shiroka Laka. About 34 km from Devin is a winter resort Pamporovo and about 40 km is another ski resort - Chepelare. In Smolyan and Chepelare can visit several museums that tell the history of the Rhodope Mountains.
