Drama Theatre Apostle Karamitev

Drama Theatre " Apostle Karamitev " was created in 1953 by Decree of the State Council of Bulgaria . It is the only state theater in no county town . The first hall of the theater before they built the current building is the attic floor of the " Vinprom " . There, the windows are boarded up with plywood, dressing rooms have no natural light , heated by a large barrel stove. Appliances none. But first director Alex Simov - man with inexhaustible creative vitality, managed to form a company and start working . First premiered on Vazov " Sluzhbogontsi ." Not one critical period has experienced the theater , but the worst of them is its closure in 1964 , when , after the troupe , headed by director Asen Shopov realize a very progressive for its time performance - " error Abel " by Emil Manoff , the theater closed at the highest place of personal intervention of Todor Zhivkov . Actors are scattered at other theaters. Director Asen Shopov demoted and the building remains as the second stage of Haskovo theater.

Under the influence of the local community and with the help of MP Emilian Stanev , the theater again, " was born " in 1972.
