Dam of Dospat

Dam of Dospat is located in the heart of the fairy Rodopi, next to the city Dospat of about 82 km west of Smolyan. Located 1200 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest dams in Bulgaria, with its 22 000 ha water area is the second volume. Belongs to the so-called mid-dams. Beautiful scenery around Dospat is ideal for tourist activities. The dam is surrounded by ancient forests of spruce and pine and across the high slopes of the Rhodope mountains are scattered houses and hotels.

The dam is rich in fish. It swims perch, chub, bleak, rudd, local and American trout and coarse fish carp. There are excellent conditions for sport and commercial fishing. Nearby are the dams Vacha, Sarnitsa "and" Wide meadow. " The dam also offers surfing, sailing, boating, water skiing. Hikers can pick mushrooms, berries and herbs. Enthusiastic tourists can make the transition to Sarnitsa, to Beslet peak, to Chernovrah and the Big and Small Syutka. Summer time dozens of tents stretch along the path Dospat-Sarnitsa. When the dam is not too full at the beginning you could see two islands, which divided land flocks of cormorants and black light ribarcheta.
