Dryanovo is much more than a typical mountain town. Dryanovo is a symbiosis of culture, spirituality and history that you feel in each house in each resident will encounter there. The wonderful and healthy mountain climate makes living and recreation in Dryanovo so favorable to the body that you really feel more alive and more spiritual yet the moment you approach this lovely little village.
Not by chance is called "town of centenarians" - for the sake of the hundreds who fell fighting for the freedom of their homeland Bulgarians from the region. It is located 20 km. from Gabrovo and 25 km from Veliko Turnovo. Typical of Renaissance cities in this region of Bulgaria Dryanovo also "spill" tiers on both sides of the river Dryanovska.
History of Dryanovo yet started in the Paleolithic era. Evidence of this are found in the local cave "Bacho Kiro" traces of human presence, which is believed to be the oldest in the Balkans. Today's name comes from the dogwood tree, which symbolizes the tenacious and unyielding spirit of the mountaineers.
One of the most emblematic buildings related Dryanovo is Dryanovo Monastery " Archangel Michael. " Situated only 4 km. the city he is a true symbol of sacrifice in the name of freedom, because in May 1876 behind its walls for nine days fighting and fleeing rebels of Pop Hariton, teacher and Peter Bacho Kiro Paramov. You can meet more than 200 plant and animal species, some of which are recorded in the Red Book, you can cool off in the clear waters of the river and breathe the scent of the forest.
And when you looked around Dryanovo is time to head towards the inner city, where you expect more interesting and impressive sights. Firstly, this is perhaps the museum of Bulgarian Renaissance building, also known as Museum "Kolyo Ficheto". Remarkable is Lafchieva house, which many consider a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, was built without a single nail. You can view saved from the old bazaar houses - Ikonomova, Afazova, Romunova, tannic. They are in the neighborhood Boyuv and dam were built in Renaissance style.
