Route Ivan Vazov hut - Dupnitsa

The starting point of the tourist route is one of the most difficult to reach huts in Rila - " Ivan Vazov " . In recent years, it is increasingly preferred by mountaineers who are lovers of peace and quiet , and not just because of that large tourist flows surround it , and due to its strategic location close to most of the sights of Rila.

The route takes in the south and crosses the river Bistrica , then began shortcuts Mokrishkiya diagonally from west ridge. Reaching the watershed between the valleys of Eleshnitsa and Bistrica , start climbing the peak Kalin ( 2668 meters altitude ) . In practice, peak Kalin is ... two peaks . Conventionally they are called Kalin and Kalin 1 or 2 Large and Small Kalin and are quite easily accessible from the hut " Ivan Vazov " , only in the final section the slope is greater .

First reaches peak Great Kalin from which the route continues west ridge shortcutting the saddle before Small Kalin and then gradually climbs the top. Here is a beautiful view and below the low is the highest dam in Bulgaria - "Kalin" ( 2490 m ) . From the top of the track descends to the northwest , we can orient ourselves in an abandoned kiosk. Pass a hundred yards south of it and begin to climb Great Polich ( 2615 ), which , like Kalin , is not autonomous , but a combination of several peaks .

Once you get past them , heads south through a small plateau , heading towards three groups of rock formations in the western part. We strive to cluster among the rocks , which descend to the small Polich peak ( 2342 m ), which is the last high point of this was . Ascent becomes broad ridge to the east , then go down to the northwest , a ridge leading to the peak Mursalenitsa (1952 m). Once you pass the track crosses Smochenskata vada , and then a wide saddle .

Hence follows the path was relatively low , which stand slightly rocky peaks . Not long after it came to a dirt road , we have to continue north . After half an hour we reach the road, in which approximately 30-40 minutes we find ourselves in the center of Doupnitza .
