Museum of Paleontology in the town of Elena is situated in Popnikolov house - one of the oldest buildings in the city during the period of Bulgarian Revival (XVIII - XIX century) and architectural monument of national importance. In 1980-81 the house was completely restored and is available on the Sofia University "St. University "for training and research facilities. Then the ground floor is located the Museum of Paleontology, who created the idea and under the supervision of Academician Prof. Todor Nikolov - doctor honoris causa of the University in the city Toulouse, France. The museum presents material from the collections of Academician Prof. Todor Nikolov st.n. Stoicho Breskovski village and Senior Kristalina Stoykova. Besides material from the collections of prominent Bulgarian scientists in the museum are exhibited some of the finds recovered from the students during their training practice in Helena - fossils, minerals and others.

The remaining floors of the house Popnikolov are used by students and faculty of Sofia University as a training base.

The building itself is also interesting - typical of Elena houses. Built in the first half of XIX century - around 1830, the building faces two streets - "Karshovski" and "Stefan Yovchev." The streets, it has three floors - ground floor and two floors, and the yard - two. In the early years after liberation in the house was housed the town's technical department, it is known as "Old engineering."

The museum relies on Monday and Tuesday.
