Ezeretsko lake called Satalmash is lake - estuary , located in the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, near the village Ezerets . It is connected by a canal with Lake Shabla . Both lakes formed Shabla Lake Complex . In 1995 the area with an area of ​​5312.4 hectares , which covered both lakes was declared a protected area in order to preserve the flora and fauna there. Ezerets lake maintains its water level mainly by spring waters . Its area reaches 0.7 square kilometers, maximum depth of 9 meters and its water volume is 2.5 million cubic meters. Water from the lake is used mainly for irrigation. Ezerets lake is extremely important ornithological importance as part of Shabla Lake Complex . On its territory are established are 260 bird species, 70 of which are part of the Red Book of Bulgaria and 111 are of European conservation concern . Can be found here and 13 globally threatened species. The territory of Ezerets lake, together with that of Shabla and Durkankulashkoto lake, winter , and almost the entire world population of the globally threatened Red-breasted Goose . In winter there are found large concentrations of white-fronted goose , as well as single copies of the globally threatened Lesser White-fronted Goose . Ezerets lake is important for many other wintering , nesting and migratory birds such as Whooper Swan , Mallard , Dalmatian Pelican , Kentish Plover , Ferruginous Duck and White-headed Duck, Greater Spotted Eagle, corncrake and the Pygmy Cormorant .
