Ecopath Gradishte - Kmetovtsi

The route of the trail " Gradishte - Kmetovtsi " starts from Gradishte which is located fortified settlement from the Roman period . It is located about 3 km from the center of Gabrovo and has a magnificent view of the city of Stara Planina .

The first kilometer route follows the road to the capital of humor , then turns left on a forest road . 500 meters below the road onto a meadow with beautiful views of Central Stara Planina , and then another half mile route crosses the main road connecting the villages Boriki and Orlovtsi (both in the municipality of Gabrovo) .

Eco trail descends gently through a wooded area and after about 300 meters we find ourselves in a guerrilla hideout , once you go out to Dol well and with a little creek . Another mile farther route pleasantly surprised us with a sheltered meadow on which they built a recreation area and observatory of wildlife. Of course, if you want to see some of the inhabitants of the surrounding woods , you will need to demonstrate a lot of patience and perseverance.

Here the path continues along the road between the villages Orlovtsi and Ovoshtartsi ( Gabrovo Municipality ) and then released him , passing through a small wooden bridge . A few minutes later, we find ourselves in the village Ovoshtartsi , which is almost deserted . In less than two kilometers again go into a beautiful and peaceful forest in which we go about 500 meters. Less than a mile separates us from the end point of the route - Kmetovitsi to that brand, passing through a river ford .

Although the total length of the route is relatively large ( Kmetovtsi is located about 12 kilometers northeast of Gabrovo) , the transition is easy and pleasant , very accessible to beginners travelers and groups with small children. The climbs are smooth for most of the time go in the vicinity of settlements , there are many places you can hide to sudden deterioration of time.

Ecotrail " Gradishte - Kmetovtsi " takes about 3-4 hours in a normal way. The village is located 4 km from the architectural and ethnographic complex " Bozhentsite " and , just as it has all traces of architecture. Hundred houses that are left over from craft and commercial progress of the local population, with the first stone floors and bay bid on the latter perched on the picturesque narrow cobbled streets . Although currently in the village to live only about fifty people , architecture, gardens laden with greenery and beautiful surroundings make Kmetovtsi a traditional destination for lovers of Bulgarian traditions.
