In the southern slopes near the village of Malo Malovo is located Malomalovskiyat monastery " St. Nicholas " and in the north , near the village Lopushnya - Shumski monastery " St. Archangel Michael" - aka Lopushnenski .
Shumski monastery was founded in the XI century after it was destroyed , but do not know when and for what circumstances. His recovery is happening in the XIX century then a young boy had a vision . Initially the local Bulgarians did not believe him , but the Turks decided to check and saw that indeed there are remains of a monastery decided to restore it . So on the foundations of a large old church was built the new temple. Its construction lasted nearly three years - from 1861 to 1863. In 1864 the church was consecrated .
Nowadays Shumskiyat monastery "St. Archangel Michael " is permanent , but his condition is not very good. The complex includes a church, residential and commercial buildings . Cloister is managed by Father John, who lived in the monastery since 1997
Unfortunately , the monastery is currently in the process of destruction and not as an object of national importance , for it not provided funds for restoration. Although the assessment of the National Institute for Monuments of Culture have opinions that under these murals is possible to have older layers , but studies have not been done . Found the foundations of an old medieval church in the repair of the pavement in front of the church, but archaeological research has also not made .
Located 6 km from Godech to Shumskiya monastery leads from Sofia in Kostinbrod village Buchin Pass and exit left at the intersection before Petrokhan - direction Godech village and the noise. Immediately after the village has asphalt exit left that leads to Lopushna / racket / . In the center, right by the bus stop beside the fountain , there is a dirt road . This path leads down and north to the foot of the mountain where the monastery . There are hand- made signs.
In the monastery does not offer lodging and food. However, there is a plan to build a guest room , gazebo and chapel , which is gaining donations. In warm weather there is the possibility of preparing grilled food outside.
