Price: Aladja is located 2 km from the beach resort of Golden Sands and 10 km north of Varna. Exit to Aladja is just before Golden Sands and is easily reachable by car or bus.
Nice atmosphere, the monastery is now a museum. The museum offers everything we need. It has exposed artifacts and exhibits from the time when the monks lived. Today may be the remains of 20 rooms and 3 of the churches located on two levels, connected by staircases carved into the rocks. The most extensive church premises is located on the second floor and is almost entirely hewn into the rock. The other two chapels in Aladja are located at the bottom of each floor. Of them are best preserved is that of the last level. Only in this room is preserved wall decorations dating from the 14c. On the south wall are five fragments make figures of saints - monks. Even better is preserved decoration of the ceiling where the center circle decorated with a wide frame and is painted radiance of Christ's throne. Four figures of flying angels support the central disk. In all corners of the attic composition is set in a medallion with polufiguri of saints - most likely four evangelists. In spring and summer the museum is open to visitors and has picnic areas.
