Historical Museum Isperih

For start of a museum in the city Isperih is considered the foundation of the "county archaeological society" Khan Omurtag "back in 1927. Throughout the years members gather small heterogeneous collection of artifacts stored in the" consciousness "of the city (where the museum is housed at the moment). Between 1956-1963 year circle in local studies library to add to it's past exhibits homeland predominantly ethnographic and total number of items reaches 1711. They are stored in boxes in different buildings while in November 1975 with the opening of a permanent museum exhibition in the new library building, citizens and tourists get the opportunity to see them. During 1978 collection is a branch of the Regional History Museum in Razgrad. After opening the Sveshtari tomb in 1982, the area became a center of Research Program "pair and its undoubted" and the activities of the branch grows. During 1984 they become a separate museum.

Today in History museum - Isperih departments archeology, ethnography, new and modern history, artistic and administrative, business and restoration laboratory. The fund today is over 30,000 museum pieces. It has a storehouse of materials and equipped laboratory, conference room, and halls for permanent and temporary exhibitions, ethnographic house reception center and archaeological bases IAR "Sboryanovo" and windmill in s.Belintsi.

Art Gallery, which houses temporary exhibitions are located in the city center, the building of the cinema. The hall is used not only for art but for thematic, archaeological, historical and other exhibitions.

Belong to the museum are objects - IAR Sboryanovo; Ethnographic house, located near the community center in the city center, ethnographic collection in Sveshtari and windmill in the village Belintsi.

Some sites open by appointment or during certain months, so call for more information. Entry fees are different for each site - for permanent display is 0.50 BGN to Sveshtari tomb - 10 BGN included talk. Most other sites are visited for free.
