Price: The starting point of this route is a tourist village Zhelyava ( Kremikovtsi , Sofia Municipality , Sofia region ) . It is situated between the villages Yana and Eleshnitsa , 24 km from the capital towards Botevgrad . Located near the highway " Hemus" and there is a regular bus connection with Sofia .
Zhelyava is tucked away in the foothills of the Western Balkan Mountains and is one of the main starting points for climbing the emblematic area Murgash Peak ( 1687 m altitude ) . On the way up are beautiful views to the southern foot of the mountain , Vitosha and Sofia field.
The route from the village to the top is relatively difficult and requires good physical training and extensive experience in mountaineering . Although it is not particularly steep , the route is known as the problem in the winter and inhospitable during the hot months, when all along it could not find any permanent water source.
In the past, around the village Zhelyava do the whole area of Mount Murgash had notoriety contaminated by the steel "Kremikovci " territory . The route is relatively well recognizable , although the marking of places is difficult to discern. Therefore, the transition has to be approached with caution , as the possibility of losses , especially if you do not have enough experience very real.
After about two hours climbing relatively gentle terrain on which alternate deciduous mixed forests and scenic meadows , the trail reaches a dirt road that connects the city of Buhovo with hut " Murgash ." Here to it takes about an hour and a half in track, which does not represent a serious challenge for every tourist in normal condition.
The distance from the hut to the Murgash takes about half an hour and is a relatively steep climb . The view that opens from the top is really impressive. In all directions, you can see spectacular panoramas. North , west and east stretches the impressive series of peaks, valleys and slopes of the Balkan Mountains. South spreads the Sofia field , behind which in good weather to see Vitosha and Rila Verila .
The area of Mount Murgash is a rarely visited in the Western Balkans. This is due to the poor tourism infrastructure and the fact that the tip is the windiest place in Bulgaria and sudden changes in weather , combined with severe storms are not rare , even in summer .
