Route Smesite area - Dermenka hut

The starting point of the route is Smesite located on the main Stara Planina ridge between the peaks Big Kademlia ( 2275 m altitude , the ruler of the Triglav Massif ) and Yurushka heap ( 2136 m ) . Its name comes from the fact that here are collected ("mixed " ) waters of several streams to form a river Taja .

Of the mixture take the road to Mahala Neshkovtsi (part of the village of Cherni Osam, Municipality Troyan, District Lovech) . A hundred meters after the area is situated checkpoint , but no problems with passing . The distance from the mixture to Neshkovtsi neighborhood is about 4 km and takes approximately one hour for a normal move.

Once you go through the neighborhood , the route continues to move along the picturesque bed of Cherni Osam River and reaches the area Kiselitsata ( Kiselchovo meadow ) where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Central Stara Planina. It is located a few kilometers from Neshkovtsi and it starts marked trail hut " Dermenka ." The track is in very good condition , it is not possible to deceive or lose . If you do not become enchanted by the beauty of the reserve "Steneto" , of course.

The reserve was declared in 1979 , although it has previously protected area as a " national park ." Over the years, my boundaries are changed many times , but until now one of the largest in area in the territory of National park "Central Balkan". "Steneto" named for an impressive cliffs - a common sight all over the upper watershed ( gorge ) of the Cherni Osam, which cover the whole reserve .

The varied topography predisposes to the development of rare plant and animal communities, and the natural poor accessibility of the area is the reason for the encounter many protected and endangered species. The territory of "Steneto" live over 1,000 plant species and more than 100 are only protected animals that inhabit it . Not rare old growth beech forest more than two hundred years , and mixed stands of hornbeam , oak, maple, fir and spruce. The most colorful fauna are king , small and short-toed eagle , Egyptian and griffon vulture, falcon hobby , Ural owl , brown bear , wolf, otter ...

The transition to " Dermenka " is relatively easy , although there is a strong gradient between the lowest and highest point . The chalet is located in the Troyan Balkan, central ridge of Stara Planina mountain, 1504 meters It is located within the reserve "wall" near or area and it can be reached relatively easily in all seasons .
