Ibar reserve is located in the eastern part of Rila Mountain, near the town of Kostenec . It is one of four reserves located in the Rila National Park. It was established in 1985 and takes its name from in the immediate vicinity of Mount Ibar / 2666 m / . Covers the northern parts of the ridge between the peaks and Ibar Belmeken and crossed by rivers Dolnobanska Bistrica Chavcha end. Has an area of 2248.6 hectares . Differences in altitude / 1100 - 2400 m / Reserve explain the presence of a variety of plant and animal species. More than 400 species of plants are found in the reserve . Here grow a number of endemic, rare, endangered and legally protected species - Rila cowslip , Transylvanian bell . About 75 % of the area of the reserve falls in the coniferous forest belt . The most common is the formation of spruce , followed by those of Scots pine , white fir , fir and beech . The subalpine zone is dominated dwarf . It is rich and fauna in the reserve. The area is inhabited by over fifty species of birds , some of which have been declared endangered - the golden eagle and goshawk . Here the Balkan and Alpine Long-eared Lark accentor - glacial relicts and Balkan endemic subspecies. Can be seen and rock partridge , crow haidouk , wall creeper . Glacial relicts there among fish , amphibians and reptiles . Mammals that's snow vole . Here is the most eastern distribution of the chamois in the Rila Mountains . The diversity of fauna complement bears, wolves , deer, fox , wild boar . This occurs locally endemic subspecies of Memory. In the territory of the reserve is Kostenski waterfall and historical sites " Cherkovishteto ", " Pleshtnitsa ", " Shivaritoto Dere " and others. Nearby is the resort Villas Kostenec which is a starting point for hiking hut " Gurgulitsa", hut " Belmeken ", peak " Musala ", peak " Zavrachitsa ", peak " Maliovitsa ", and Marichini lakes. The routes are clearly marked with places for vacations. Has no established trails .
