Museum of Renaissance in the Pantheon of Rakovski is located in the city center in an impressive building made of stone, wood and iron. The building was opened in 1981 to celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Bulgaria.
Exhibition the museum is located in 4 rooms and divided into four sections - Leaders Enlightenment rebels and revolutionaries. Four halls depict the life and work of more than 200 national heroes in the region. In the first room of the museum are National Leaders Sophronius of Vratsa - first copied Paisii "History Slavonian" issued the first printed book in Bulgarian, wrote the first autobiographical work Bozveli Neophyte - founder, organizer and leader of the struggle for church independence and writer. Here lies the heart restless and Dr. Petar Beron - author of the first primer "Fish Primer" encyclopaedic scholar of European scale, left voluminous writings in 5 languages. Central to the room is given to the revolutionaries Georgi Sava Rakovski. His remains were placed in a marble sarcophagus, covered by bronze flag with sacred words "Freedom or Death". Was buried with a copy of his sword.
Through the reconstruction of each school / department with prison sentences, sand desks, wild and tablet, reward and penalty cavalier / has recreated the atmosphere of learning in the first half of the nineteenth century.
Talks are held in Bulgarian, Russian, German and English and pay 5 BGN. During the winter months the museum is open until 17h and 18h in summer. For students and pensioners entrance fee is 1.50 BGN.
