Museum of Aviation

Only now a museum of aviation in our country was opened on September 21, 1991 as a subsidiary of NMMH. A March 29, 1994 decision of the Ministry of Culture is formed separate museum of aviation under the Ministry of Defence.

This unique location has about 6,800 exhibits and 65 aircraft - airplanes, helicopters, gliders, radio relay stations and others. They are located in two internal and one external exposures, two repair and restoration hangar and repository for the records. The exposition provides aviation fans the opportunity to see very interesting exhibits. The museum also has quite unique. This store aircraft, built by Bulgarian Georgi Bojinov in 1912 - these are only 9 years after the first flight of the Wright brothers. Of course, he failed to make the plane immediately due to lack of funds. But it built in 1926 and he just kept Krumovo. The most interesting thing you can see is hydroplan "Arado 196 A3 Shark". It was produced in 1937 in Germany and was delivered to Bulgaria in 1943 is designed to combat submarine and surface craft. This plane is unique because it is the only of its kind preserved in the world. There is no other museum owns an airplane of this type. Another unique is dropping apparatus of the spaceship "Union 33", which in 1979 was made the flight of the first Bulgarian astronaut Georgi Ivanov, here are the original suit and a suit that is flown. Among the interesting exhibits is the standard built Bulgarian aircraft "Laz 7M, designed by Prof. Tzvetan Lazarov. Visitors can enjoy the airplanes of World War II - Cc 9, Li 2, Ile 2, Tu 2 and almost all subsequent models. As a model can be seen and the most recent addition to the Bulgarian Air Force - the helicopter "Cougar 701". Presents different helicopters - the first coming of weapons in our country in 1957 - "MY 1" and "MY 4" to modern "MY 8". In internal exposures are presented documents, personal belongings of pilots, swords, details of aircraft, aircraft engines and armament, aviator clothing. On panels depicts archival photographs and documents the history of Bulgarian Aviation and evidence of everyday life aviator and the Bulgarian airports.
