The starting point of this trail is located on the dam "Kardjali" - hut " Borovitza ." It is a massive building , able to accommodate 50 people. Toilets and bathrooms are on each floor. The hut is water and electricity, has a central control. Besides the tourist routes to it can be reached by asphalt road.

"Borovitza" is located about 30 km northwest of the town of Kardzhali, picturesque sheltered peninsula, offering magnificent views of the lake. At the beginning of the route take the road that follows the curves of the ponds. Soon, however, the route leaves the asphalt road and take the forest path, which gradually climbs into one of the most famous Bulgarian caves - Utrobata.

The trail is well recognizable, so there is no danger of losing. Along it there are two gazebos, and just before the cave was built and good shelter. From this site you can enjoy the wonderful views of the lake and the surrounding peaks of the Eastern Rhodopes.

Utrobata cave got its name from the characteristic shape of the door. Thracians saw this and about millennium BC built in it a sanctuary dedicated to the cult of fertility. It is located in the Tangardak Kaya , near the village Nenkovo ​​( Kardzhali municipality ) . Natural vertical slit at the entrance further shaped by people to resemble the vulva .

The depth of the cave is about 22 meters, and in the bottom is shaped altar, about a meter tall. Every day at noon through a crack in the rock enter sunbeam that falls on the altar for a few minutes. From Hut "Borovitza" to the cave takes about half an hour. After Utrobata trail continues alternating one after another wooded and open areas, sometimes follows black -holed roads and along its cross villages Iliynitsa, Golyama Bara. Bulb turns right at a typical gully along which moves to come to the bridge of the village Duzhdovnitsa . If you wish you can stay in the guest house here and spend more time away from the lovely town.

The total length is about 7 km. The section after leaving the asphalt road to the hut "Borovitza" to the cave is relatively steep and requires certain physical effort. Heavy duty can not out of the question. The entire trail takes about two hours and a half.
