Historical Museum Lovech

Museum in Lovech starts from 10 February 1895 to the then Lovech library "Science" is a museum collection of 570 artifacts - donated by citizens. As a result of hard work of a few generations of workers, today the museum collections of the museum - Lovech, keeps over 70,000 exhibits. Chronologically and thematically, they are divided into four sections - "Archaeology", "History of Bulgaria XV - XIX century", "Nature" and "New and modern history of Bulgaria." Since 1985, the museum is working studio for restoration and conservation.

The earliest material in the section "Archaeology" are prehistoric and are found along the river Osam - Tabashka, Vasil Levski and Devetashka. In the section "History of Bulgaria XV-XIX century" kept written and physical records of the economic, political and cultural history of the Lovech region in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Is extremely valuable collection of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts and incunabula. The emphasis is on participation and the role of Lovech citizens in the struggle against the Ottomans to restore the Bulgarian state. A special place in the exhibition is devoted to the first Bulgarian astronaut Georgi Ivanov was born in Lovech.
