Route Madzharovo - Chernichino v...

The starting point of this tourist route is the Visitors' Center "Eastern Rhodopes", located just near the town Madzharovo near the bridge over the Arda River. This is one of the places where you can learn the most and curious things about the life of raptors and biodiversity in the region. The center was established in 1996 with the idea of ​​the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds.

Goes south on the asphalt road to the village Borislavtsi which gradually climbs following blur characteristic of the Eastern Rhodopes wooded hills. Approximately two and a half hours after the departure of the center track takes us to be what started downhill. Left the trail of a Thracian sanctuary, and a little later (right) leaves the ramp and in which we must continue to the village Chernichino. Walk up the dirt road that continues to meander, descending and climbing through beautiful forests and sunny meadows. After a prolonged descent leads to a junction. Right to continue our ultimate goal Chernichino and straight dirt road continues to the village Popsko.

Chernichino is a typical mountain village, having the unhappy fate of thousands of his fellow. Located in beautiful surroundings in a fertile region, in the past it was a large village bustling. After many vicissitudes of our historical destiny in the second half of the twentieth and beginning of XXI century, is depopulated more to stay in the moment it live only 17 people. Many of the houses are abandoned, but even in this desert there is some magical beauty.

The transition takes about four hours and the distance is approximately 7 km. If you wish Chernichino you can continue north on the road to the village Bryagovets. Along the route there is a real opportunity to meet semi-wild herds of horses and herds Rhodope Shorthorn cattle. The trail is suitable for hiking and for ornithological tour, biking or horseback riding.
