According to one of the legends of "Ogosta" Dam, which is very close to the city, the fishes swim, mutants resulting from pollution of the lake with arsenic. Japanese like to do some experiments with fish and as a result, they mutated. Talk to them, they were huge monsters, scary divers and divers. And in the very depths of the lake sank two villages of Montana - Jivovtsi and Kalimanitsa. People say that the view is very scary when the reservoir water level dipped almost everything is seen. According to another legend Diana hill between the town and the town itself there is a cave with many tunnels in which many people have disappeared. Even claimed that there is an underground lake, which also met the aforementioned water monsters.
These urban legends wear the residents of Montana. No one knows how far and how far true folk tradition, but surely one is completely true - Ogosta dam is one of the most beautiful places in the area.
It is used to produce electricity through two hydropower plants - "Kosharnik" and "Ogosta". Its waters are also used for commercial fishing, because there are a wide variety of fish, but the most common is carp, perch, Nase, bream, chub, barbel and rudd. Construction of the dam AUGUSTA last 20 years and ended in 1986.
