Karadjov Stone

Mostovo Village is located in the middle of the energy triangle - "Cross Forest," "Belintash" and "Karadzhov stone." Located 27 km from the town towards the village and then Kardjali Red wean the right. Because the stone to Karadzhov reached only after walking and locality is declared protected, nature is left untouched. The route there is moving along the ridge in places that a beautiful panoramic view. Attraction is the high rock plateau (peak height 1448 m), whose vertical walls are formed naturally narrow chute. Since ancient times people believed a special place - the Thracians built a sanctuary in which they honored the dead. Until today there are carved into the rock wells religious purposes, and steps leading to the top of the array. Be careful when climbing, it's pretty steep. Conducted excavations indicate that the sanctuary was established in the early Iron Age (VII - VI century BC). From this period have remained carved rock pits and grooves, which were made containers, pallets are fires, while the ritual is finished with being overwhelmed with stones.

Later, the sanctuary was used during the III - IV century AD - Has found pottery made on a potter's wheel, and coins from the time of the Roman Emperor Justinian I (reigned between 527 - 565).

Like most Thracian sanctuaries, here seen floors. The first floor is called the Lower cult site, follow the steps carved - transition to the higher part, where the rocks are cut small holes. When a Thracian died, his relatives were digging holes in the rock and filled them with gifts.

Local people, unlike the ancient Thracians, are not considered a sacred place and connect it with the activities of the local revolutionaries fighting against Ottoman rule. Under Karadzhov stone has a small cave, where according to legend was hiding Karadja Voivode (local rebel) who avenge the Ottomans to do evil.

The view from the top of the plateau is incredible - be gentle was found in nearby and distant Rhodope areas - Belintash Cross Forest, is also visible area of the hut "Martsiganitsa."
