The old town is situated on a small peninsula with a length of only 850 m and 350 m wide, connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Nessebar peninsula - Ancient Mesambria, called in the early Middle Ages Messemvria and later Nessebar is settled in the late Bronze Age. With legendary data in its existence Nessebar had about 40 churches. We have data for 23 of them. And now because of the many well-preserved churches, especially from the period XIII - XIV century the town was called by local and foreign researchers Bulgarian Ravenna. Almost throughout its history has been Nessebar residence. Two of churches - St. Sofia and St. Stephen - are more known as the Old and New Metropolis. Of the Bulgarian Revival in Nessebar remained pretty houses, typical representatives of the Black Sea-type house, part of many working in the city windmills, fountains and bathroom. Since the end of last century Nesebar was a small town with the main livelihood fishing and agriculture - mainly vine and production of flax. Since 1959, after the construction of the resort of Sunny Beach, in and around the city is actively developing international tourism. Major tourist attractions are the Archeological Museum, the walls and towers, Church St. Stephen's, Church of Christ Pantocrator, the Ethnographic Museum, windmills and houses. Prices for entry vary between 3 and 5 lv adult, the Archaeological Museum are available and combined tickets for several attractions. Hours: Archaeological Museum, 9:00 to 19:00h, weekends until 18:00, St. Saviour: 10:00 to 17:00, weekends until 15:00, St. Stephen's Church: 9:00 to 18: 00h
