The starting point of this interesting kayaking route is Oreh Island, situated in Bulgarian waters of the Danube, opposite Oriahovo. Poem is the narrow channel between the islands of Oreh and Ezik, which are one of the richest areas of waterfowl throughout the Bulgarian part of the Danube. The channel is relatively narrow, but poses no difficulty even for not very experienced paddlers.
The area is particularly impressive in the spring, when the islands look like covered with dense vegetation and literally surrounded by greenery. Of course, you should be careful to find the vessel space between them, as high water levels of the trees literally cover it and hinder movement. The next town on the road is the village of Dolni Vadin, which has less than two hundred inhabitants and charm with its small houses with characteristic of this part of Bulgaria architecture.
From the stream takes you to the village of Baikal, where you can relax in the cozy restaurant of the same name on the bank of the Danube. The view of the river is particularly impressive, as the village is located on the island Boril where vegetation is thick again, and waterfowl are abundant.
Between the villages Baykal and Zagrazhden in Danube river flows the longest Bulgarian river - Iskar. In Zagrazhden you can find private rooms, but if you prefer, you can make camp on the riverbank and spend an exciting evening campfire under the stars, enjoying the beauty of nature and the mighty Danube.
