Panagyurishte - Historical Museum

Panagyurishte is primarily known as a center of the April Uprising of 1876. Memories of those times are preserved Memorial Complex "Apriltsi" and Renaissance houses, among them - Tutevata, Djunov, lightweight, and the home of Princess Raina. All are part of the Historical Museum complex.

Today's History Museum in Panagyurishte created in 1951, but the museum in the region dating from the mid 19th century. At the museum are separate departments of archeology, ethnology, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary History. It also has a specialized library with over 6000 volumes of scientific literature - old books, periodicals and a depository. In his collections there and thousands of works of fine and applied arts. The main exhibition is dedicated to the April Uprising and the lives of Panagyurishte during the Renaissance.

In 2001 the complex was opened Charshiyata crafts in which objects are presented and techniques associated with homespun, carpet, papukchiystvoto, goldsmith, mutafchiistvo, blacksmith, coppersmith and furriers.

The museum offers visitors and thematic tours, one of which leads to the historical place Oborishte where convened the First Great Bulgarian National Assembly.
