Zoo Pavlikem is located at the south end of town and is a natural extension of the city park . It is the only zoo in this part of Bulgaria and other closest is in Lovech. The zoo was founded in 1966 by Dimitar Yankov, in the beginning it was just one deer, which hunting group provided him . Space is small in size but has a different species. There you can see bears, ostriches , lions , wolves , deer , various birds. One of the oldest residents is Scottish pony. Most of the animals at the zoo are caught by Mr. Yankov, who is one of the most active hunters from hunting and fishing association in the city. Today, the zoo is located at 120 animals and birds , representatives of 32 species . Inside the zoo animals were divided into groups . First , of course, are predators. Currently, the zoo has two lions , a bear , a fox and a few wolves. After the predators follow mammalian cells. They are represented by several Cameroon goats , fallow deer, mouflon and a little fawn . Most goats are trusting that allow anyone who wants the fence to touch them . Mouflon are more timid . The largest zoo in the group of feathered creatures . It includes two ostrich , peacock , a few pheasants , guinea fowl and exotic roosters , hens and geese. Most visitors often linger in front of the ostriches. Pavlikeni zoo has some wild pigs. Zoo no fixed office hours and is open every day. Admission is free . At the beginning of the park is built playground with swings and slides for the kids , and benches for rest and relaxation to parents .
