Park Belasitsa

Park " Belasitza " is located in the southwestern part of Bulgaria and covers the northern slopes of mount Beles . The park is bordered to the west by the Republic of Macedonia to the south - with Greece . It is the newest National Park in Bulgaria . Was announced by the Minister of Environment and Water in 2007, total area is 117 324.318 acres. " Park Belasitza " was declared a protected area . At this stage Belasitza known around 1200 plant species. Objectives are the protection of old-growth forests , mainly composed of common beech and chestnut plain and plane- natural habitats. Preserved and protected and endemic plant species, such as plain yew, holly , mountain maple, Albanian cream. There have been 1,500 more species of invertebrates and 180 species of vertebrates . Birds in the area of the mountain are 120 species . Very interesting Mediterranean bird species that are found in very small and limited part of the Bulgarian territory. These include Orpheus warbler , a small olive warbler . Two species are Balkan endemics - Balkan Lark and Alpine zavirushka . With the announcement of the mount Beles Natural Park began development of rural and ecological tourism in the region. There are possibilities for accommodation in classified sites in almost any of the submontane villages. The park has three cabins - Belasitza , Kongur and Lopovo , and for lovers of the urban environment has many hotels in Petrich. The main routes in the park reach two huts - " Belasitza " and " Kongur " as the end point was often to mount Beles . Routes are the villages Kolarovo , Key and folded .
