Momin peak

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful girl . With her no one else can be compared . She lived somewhere in the foothills of the Pirin Mountains. Shapely as poplar, was prettier than the flowers in the gardens and even the sun and moon jealous . The name was Rada. Girl was an orphan and a small deal alone with the housework and care for her younger sisters. She would go it alone in the forest, wearing wood and water, plowing fields and mowing lawns . So notorious was this girl with her beauty and courage. One day on the Turkish yoke Turkey came Pirin region , locals fled and hid in the woods. They say it is always white because there is the Sultan's turban fell as he ran towards the girl . According to another hypothesis, then, the name of the peak is given by a group of climbers in 1950 during a summer course in the Alpine region.

Momin peak is 2480 meters high and is located in the western part of the largest share in Pirin - North . The peak rises Sinanishko either side , east of Sinanitsa , which separates it from the rocky crevice and southwest of Georgiytsa . So the tip is part of the array of Sinanitsa , but in the recent literature is often referred to as a separate peak. East Momin peak is easily accessible. However northwest side is vertical , very crumbly marbled wall with a height of about 200 meters , overhanging Sinanishko lake. This wall is alpine climbing site of IV-A category of difficulty . Her first ascent took place on August 21, 1950 by MC Peter Moskov Alexander Hizhov. From west side of Momin peak ridge descends and forms a rocky crevice , which clearly separates the massif of Mount Sinanitsa .

The most convenient starting point for the ascent of the peak is Momin hut Sinanitsa . Other cottages in the area are Bezbog, Bunderitza, Vihren , Gotse Delchev, Demyanitsa, Kamenica Camp , Raspberry , Pirin, Sinanitsa , Iavorov and Yane Sandanski .
