Balabanov House

Balabanov House is representative of the development of Plovdiv symmetrical house and e one of the richest models in which spatial composition is characterized by an equivalent participation of two mutually perpendicular axes, that of the basement and that of the floors. Characterized with a rich development of architectural details of plastic and planar decoration. This decision of the house transcends the functions of housing and is close in size and function to a public building.

It was built in the early XIX century and has had three owners . The last one was a trader Luka Balabanov , whose name it bears to this day. Its dimensions are impressive - built on an area of ​​546 square meters

The house has the unenviable fate to be torn down to the ground in the 30s and rebuilt in the 70s of the twentieth century, photographs , sketches, under the guidance of renowned architects Plovdiv .

Today, the house on the first floor presents a permanent exhibition of contemporary Bulgarian art . The second floor served as a guest room , furnished and now urban renaissance lifestyle is one of the most popular chamber music scene in the city for cultural events - chamber music concerts , theater performances , exhibitions and business meetings. From here starts the International Festival " Music Days in the Balabanov House ," which has for several years enlivens the space of the house with its spring and autumn edition .

The two rooms on the ground floor are designed for temporary exhibitions .
