House of George Mavridi aka House " Lamartine " is a revival house in Plovdiv. Located on Dzhambaz Tepe on "Knyaz Tseretelev " № 19 , at the corner of the street " Zora" in Old Town. It was built in 1829-1830 on the rich merchant George Mavridi . In 1833, in 3 days it stays French national poet and prominent politician Alphonse de Lamartine back from his journey to the Orient. Since then, the house is named after him .

House Mavridi is among the largest symmetrical houses in Old Town. Due to the steep terrain on which the house was built , the facade facing the street is a 3 -story and courtyard - 2 -story . The ground floor has an irregular shape , corrected the 2 upper floors through stepwise exported jetties . Disposition of the rooms is the same : 2 large bedrooms, a smaller room , bathroom and lounge.

Lamartin house is a monument of culture , and the 1978 is used as a creative basis of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. One room is devoted to the permanent exhibition dedicated to the French poet .
