Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv ( RAM - Plovdiv ) is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Bulgaria . Officially opened in 1882, its development goes through stages of archaeological and numismatic cabinet to its final differentiation as Archaeological Museum in 1920. Initially, the museum consisted of a numismatic collection of 1,500 coins , ethnographic and historical documents, church plates , books of XVII - XVIII century , 300 icons and paintings of famous Bulgarian artists Stanislav Dospevski , Ivan Lazarov Tcanko Lavrenov , Nikolai Raynov Zlatyu Boyadziev and others. The museum has one of the richest collections containing about 100 000 items of cultural heritage of the city , as well as works of art and everyday life, the history of the City and region. The city is heir to one of the largest and most famous ancient cities in the Balkans - Philippopolis .

Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv is located on the north side of the square "Unification " , which is available north of the Boulevard " on Sept. 6 ," which crosses the city from west to east. Central Railway Station - Plovdiv can reach the museum by bus line located № 20 , and from the railway station - Philipovo by bus № 99 .

Note: The museum does not allow people with cameras and camcorders , as well as food and drinks.

1. For Bulgarians and foreigners - 5.00 lev

2 . For students and seniors :

- For individual visits - 2.00 lev

- For group visits - 1.00 lev

3 . Package ticket for families with children up to 16 years - 5.00 lev

4 . For disabled children up to 7 years - free .
