Ancient tomb of Pomorie

Ancient tomb of Pomorie is located west of Town of Pomorie, Pomorie near the road - Burgas. The tomb dates from II - III century AD. It is believed that it served as a Heroon (mausoleum) of Anhialo rich family, which is performed religious pagan rituals. The tomb consists of a corridor (dromos) with a length of 22 m and a circular chamber with a diameter of 11.60 meters and a height of 5.50 meters is built of stone and bricks. The tomb is a semi-cylindrical arched vault in the center of a hollow column having a diameter of 3.30 meters, which extends upward and merges with the outer wall. On the inside wall of the hollow column was winding stone staircase that is venting to the surface of the mound. o okolovrastnata wall of the tomb has five niches in which urns were placed on the deceased. It is assumed that the walls were painted, but today visitors can see only traces of green plaster.

The tomb is unique in the Balkans. Architecture and buildings and it still impresses with perfect execution. Many architects from around the world studying the tomb to unravel the mystery of gaboobrazniya dome. It was declared an architectural monument.

Lectures cost three lev From October to May the tomb is open from Monday to Friday by appointment for groups over 10 people. During the remaining months work from Tuesday to Sunday.
