Pomorie lake

Pomorie Lake is hyper saline lagoon with a natural origin, located approximately two kilometers north of the town of Pomorie, Bourgas region. Natural sandy hair and artificial dike away from the sea and the southern part is connecting duct providing inflow of salt water. The area of ​​the lake reaches 8.5 square kilometers with a depth of 1.4 m and salinity between 6 and 8%. Northern part of the lake is used for salt production - a longstanding traditions in the area. Moreover, the bottom precipitated minerals and trace elements, forming mud that since ancient times used with medical use in the treatment of many diseases. That is why Pomorie is one of the most popular spa and wellness resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Passes over the lake and the great aerial highway of migratory birds from Europe - Via Pontic. The area of ​​the lake are observed near 270 different species of birds, so the area was declared a bird prominently. In 2001 the lake was declared a protected area in order to preserve the flora and fauna. Since 2010 in the southern part of the basin operates tourist and conservation center. From the second floor of the building can be monitored protected areas, it is possible to use the observation tubes and binoculars. There are also guides and lectures. In addition, separate and two types of routes: one is for lovers of birds and one of the plant species. Near the center is the only Salt Museum in Bulgaria, which was included in the hundred tourist sites in Bulgaria.
