In the shadow of Etropol monastery , at a distance of about 10 kilometers , is a small Orthodox monastery . It is the only monastery in the country, dedicated to Saint Theodore Tiron - a young soldier in the Roman army. According to the locals , he watches over the town of Pravets.

Located within the Etropol Stara Planina , at one time at the Praveshki monastery there was a Thracian sanctuary. According to historians Christian monastery emerged during the reign of the Bulgarian rulers Asen and Peter . During the centuries of slavery, the monastery became the subject of two major attacks - from the Janissaries in the 30s of the XVII century and brigands in the XVIII century. In the second attack , it was completely destroyed . Its recovery became reality only in the 60s of the XIX century , thanks to donations from wealthy residents in the area . In the short time between the Liberation and World War II Praveshkiya monastery "St. Theodore Tyron" becomes female convent . Since then the cookhouse , which today is home to a priest who served in the monastery . In 2006 and 2007 , the monastery was renovated and the frescoes in the church were restored .

Nowadays Praveshki monastery consists of two buildings - a church and cloister on the seven rooms , built in 1970, the Church "St. Teodor Tiron " is a massive stone building with three apses bulky . The iconostasis is the work of painters from Tetevenska school as a special interest is the icon of St. George from 1869 Unfortunately, the icon of the patron saint St. Theodore Tyron was almost completely destroyed. Beautiful carvings of eagles and Russian silver coin adorn the front facade of the church on both sides of the entrance.

The greatest treasure in the monastery are the relics of the patron St. Theodore Tyron . They were donated to the monastery in 2008 by Bishop Ruse .
