Starting point for the approach to the dam can be Beli Iskar, leaving a host of other strategic routes in the Rila Mountains - Maliovitsa hut, Vada, Seven Lakes , Chakar leader , Yastrebetz hut, Potter , Royal Palace Bistrica and Borovets. Beautiful views of the lake is open to the marked trail from hut Potter to hut Fish Lakes. Initially you may notice it difficult because of the many grown squats , but if you carefully go between them, you will come across the open space and rock just above the lake - a breathtaking view! The dam is visible in the distance even from the very top peak, if you look towards the Pirin Mountain. Be careful , because it is prohibited passage through the barrier of the catchment area of the dam to the saddle Dzhanka .
