Black Lake is located in the Central Rila Reserve - part of the National Park "Rila" , west of "Smradlivi lakes , next to one of the streams of Rilska River. It is also called Kara gyol . The lake is one of the hardest lakes in the Rila mountain. It was formed in hanging circus . The eastern part is surrounded by a ridge that separates it from the circus of Smradlivo Lake. In its northern part was built dam . Currently , the lake is transformed into a dam . Vertical shaft and tunnel connecting Kara puddle with the highest located lake in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula - Kalin Dam , located at 2394 meters altitude. Dam "Kalin" and dam " Karagyol " form communicating vessels and supply high pressure hydro " Calin " . Because construction activities Black Lake was completely empty . From 1949 to 1952 is constructed rockfill wall of Black Lake , which its volume is increased by about 1.5 million cubic meters. From the stream , which drains the lake might look old route to Stinky Lake, but since people rarely go from here , the path is very overgrown with dwarf . Black Lake is extremely beautiful , with amazing panoramic views. Its difficult would make every mountaineer to enjoy his tenacity - the ultimate destination - a natural lake with dam - Kara puddle .
