On a small square, turn these days in the municipal parking lot, almost attached to the building of the Rousse Opera, wall to wall rises downtown church - Cathedral "Holy Trinity".
This is the oldest church in Ruse. It was built in 1632 and because of the time at which it is built - Ottoman rule, naturally - it was actually dug into the ground. It represents a pseudo-basilica.
In the vestibule of the church are the graves of four bishops Dorostol-Cherven - Gregory, Basil, Michael and Sophronius. From left and right of the stairs of the cathedral has two interesting label. The first is the gravestone of Father Daniel, who was long a teacher in a religious school at the convent of the church. He died in 1737 in Rousse and was buried in the churchyard, but his students incorporated their grateful his gravestone in the churchyard wall in 1764. On the right of the stairs leading down - inside the temple, is another sign. He also carved on the granite slab and reported reorganize the church in 1764. Rouse cathedral "Trinity" notes necessary part of the pilgrimage routes in the region, as here keep particles of the relics of St. Theodore Tyron, St. Panteleimon, St. Evstatia, Terentiy St., St. Gregory - Serbian bishop, St. James the Persian.
The highest part of the church is the bell tower, which rises 19 meters. It has a hexagonal shape and is built of hewn stones taken from the ruined wall of Rustchuk. The bells are five in total. Once around the "Holy Trinity" has remained the old Christian cemetery of the city. It reserved several tombstones, one of which is embedded in the sidewalk to steeple. Next to the walls can be seen two monuments associated with the Crimean War.
Behind the walls of the cathedral church Rousse will find beautifully painted icons, among them the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary lovingly created in the late 17th century gilded carvings and rich church plate. From 1983 Cathedral "Holy Trinity" in Ruse declared a cultural monument of national importance.
