Emona monastery "St. Vlasii" is located in the center of the resort Sveti Vlas.
"St. Vlasii", along with the monastery "St. Nikola" was the most prominent of Emona monasteries which formed a small Athos. There is evidence that the monastery reached its zenith during the XII-XIV centuries, especially in the XIV century, during the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Alexander (1331-1371). It is likely that, here is the biggest Bulgarian resident cleric-hesychast Theodosius.
The monastery existed until XVIII century, when among other Emonski monasteries, was destroyed by robbers and pirates.
Today, the site of a former monastery was erected a large and impressive temple patron St. Vlasii - patron of the city. Major donors are brothers Dinko and Yordan Dinev. The new church was consecrated on May 18, 2010 from Sliven bishop Joanikij in the presence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.
In the temple are kept relics of the patron saint - St. Vlasii, of St. Andrew the Apostle, and a piece of the Cross the Lord. Vlasii suffered martyrdom after inhuman torture in 316, during the reign of Likiniy. Before the sword to cut off his head, he prayed for the world and those who after his death to honor his memory.
